The blizzard continues to worsen with snow now four feet deep as the party leaves to travel toward the site where Kerrivek Vekker is buried, acting on what they were told by Silas Vekker.
Slowly traversing the terrain as Sarruk functions as a human snow plow, the party reaches the bottom of 2000 foot cliff, the top holding Kerrivek’s remains.
Zander imbues the party with the power of flight and the group heads for the top of the cliff. Unfortunately, it is one thing to fly a few dozen feet off the ground, and another to navigate the unnatural feeling of flying some 2000 feet above and as such, Midna and Morthos struggle to reach the top.
Eventually over the course of the spell’s duration, the party arrives safely at the top of the cliff, a dense fog obscuring the ground.
In the distance, Sarruk spots several small grave markers and he and Morthos progress towards them. As the close in, an explosive geyser of snow bursts forth from the ground as a massive frost worm emerges. Roaring, the worm dives in to bite with a mouth larger than a human.
Sarruk wails on the beast with his earthbreaker and causes a mighty blow. Undaunted the enormous beast snaps at the barbarian, inflicting a wound that would cleave a lesser man in twain.
A few dozen feet away, a ghostly dwarven figure emerges from the ground, hovering in the air.
Midna and Zander close in as the battle rages as the frost worm feasts on Morthos. Heavily damaged from Sarruk’s initial blow, the beast is destroyed with a final blow from Sarruk, surprising the group as it explodes in a cacophonous burst of cold, sending shrapnel like shards of chitin in in a huge radius, injuring the group and dropping Morthos to death’s door.
The battle with Kerrivek’s ghost rages on, but without the aid of the frost worm, the ghost is soon defeated, collapsing into a pile of bones on the ground.
As the heroes revive Morthos, they gather Kerrivek’s remains and Zander once more creates a safe camp for them in a pocket universe where they proceed to lick their wounds before returning once more to the Vekker’s cabin.
