The party drinks Invisibility Potions and Dolgrin concentrates on picturing one of the towers of the stone giant’s fortress. An instant later the group finds themselves on the top of the tower, 15 feet away from an unaware stone giant guardian – the dwarf’s magic having safely delivered them to the place he pictured.
Moving quickly, Midna places a magical area of silence in the middle of the tower and the heroes charge the stone giant who is completely taken aback by the assault. As the magical invisibility dissipates an instant before their weapons strike, the giant is unable to defend himself and is slain before he even fully realizes what has happened.
Below in the coutyard a young stone giant attempts to wrangle a giant mammoth who dwarfs his size. Seeking to use the mammoth as a distraction, Dolgrin casts glitterdust on the giant, coating the monster in a fine golden dust that blinds him, causing him to scream out in giant.
Its wrangler now otherwise distracted, the mammoth trumpets and begins to stampede through the area. High above in a tall spire, the sounds of chaos below alert something and the party hears the cawing sounds of two large creatures.
As the party begins to descend the tower below, two enormous eagle-like creatures emerge from the spire, taking flight and circling the area, moving gracefully through the air with a frightful wingspan of some 60 feet across.
Seeking cover from their literal bird’s-eye-view, the group ducks into a nearby building to avoid the beasts circling above. Inside they find three mammoth’s housed in mammoth sized pens. Dolgrin, shovels some food at one, attempting to calm it but the excited animal begins trumpeting loudly, drawing the attention of the giants outside.
By the time the group throws open the doors on the opposite end of the building, two stone giants are charging forth while the giant raptors are swooping towards them.
Reacting quickly, Midna bolts for the pit in the center of the courtyard. Sarruk and Saverio move behind the building and prepare for the coming attack as one of the large birds swoops in grasps Sarruk in its monstrous talons. Swooping high into the air, it circles over the pit and drops the barbarian who falls 90 feet to the bottom.
As Saverio slays the giant, the second raptor swoops in and, like Sarruk before him, grabs the fighter in one talon and from a great height, drops him into the pit. Alone and outnumbered, Dolgrin succumbs to his wounds and is dragged off by the remaining stone giant.
Crashing at the bottom of the pit, Sarruk finds himself surrounded by three dire bears, eager to make him their dinner. Several moments later, Saverio crashes into the pit to join the fight. Grievously injured from the fall and the assault of the bears, the two receive a burst of healing energy as Midna reaches the bottom of the spiral.
No sooner is the number of dire bears reduced to one as a well equipped giant enters the fray, armed with a massive pick that could hew the earth as easily as it could human flesh.
Roaring in anger at the intrusion the giant swings mighty and sends Saverio flying with a mighty blow. While Midna does her best to infuse her companions with burst of healing magic, a second massive blow from the giant’s pick pierces straight throw Saverio’s body, impaling him. As the giant laughs in defiance, a scream emerges from above them as Dolgrin appears in the air and falls straight to the bone-strewn floor.
Healed by the giants in an attempt to interrogate him, the dwarf used another teleport to focus on the pit – unfamiliar with what lay in its dark recesses, his mid-air entrance proving to be surprisingly accurate.
Engraged at the loss of his fallen companion, Sarruk roars and unleashes a series of powerful blows upon the giant that prove to be fatal as he falls down dead alongside the bears.
Gathering the battered body of their fallen companion, the heroes huddle together as Dolgrin attempts to use his final teleport to return them once more to the bossom of Magnimar. Shutting his eyes tightly, the group vanishes with an audible pop as the air in the chamber rushes to fill the void where they had just stood…
